Fairy Meadows had always been one of the places I wanted to experience in Pakistan. I had seen countless photographs of its green meadows surrounded by enormous mountains, but nothing prepared me for seeing the landscape in person.
The journey itself was part of the adventure. After travelling through the dramatic mountain roads of Gilgit-Baltistan, the route gradually became more remote. The final journey through the mountains was exciting, with incredible views appearing around every turn.
When we finally reached Fairy Meadows, the landscape felt completely different from the world we had left behind. Green meadows stretched across the mountainside, while Nanga Parbat dominated the horizon.
We spent our time walking through the surrounding trails, taking photographs, and simply enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. The changing light across the mountains made every few minutes feel like a completely different scene.
One of my favorite moments came in the evening when the mountains were illuminated by the final sunlight of the day. As darkness arrived, the sky became incredibly clear and the stars appeared above the mountains.
Fairy Meadows reminded me that some of the best travel experiences are not about rushing from one attraction to another. Sometimes it is simply about slowing down, walking through nature, meeting people, and appreciating where you are.
For anyone visiting northern Pakistan, Fairy Meadows deserves a place on the itinerary. Bring comfortable walking shoes, allow enough time to enjoy the area, and most importantly, take the time to look up and appreciate the mountains around you.
