Lahore feels different from anywhere else I have travelled in Pakistan.
The city is energetic, colourful, historic, and full of character. From the first walk through its busy streets, there is a constant feeling that something interesting is happening around every corner.
One of the best ways to experience Lahore is to explore its historic areas on foot. The old streets, traditional buildings, markets, and historic landmarks tell stories that go back centuries.
The city’s architecture is particularly impressive. From the Badshahi Mosque to Lahore Fort and the surrounding historic streets, there is an incredible mix of Mughal heritage and everyday city life.
But for me, food was just as important as the architecture.
Lahore has a reputation for its food culture for a reason. Small restaurants, traditional dishes, street food, and local tea shops create an experience that is impossible to understand from photographs alone.
What I enjoyed most was simply observing everyday life. Families gathering for meals, shopkeepers chatting with customers, busy markets, and people enjoying evenings together all made the city feel incredibly alive.
Lahore taught me that sometimes the best way to understand a destination is not to follow a strict itinerary. Leave some time to wander, stop for food, talk to people, and discover the city at your own pace.
